Hold on to your wallets! Today we were fortunate enough to attend a soft opening for the reinvented World of Disney and were pleasantly surprised by the overhaul that had taken place. Before heading in, you’ll notice the first change: new signage. Gone are the days of giant characters looming above you. This may be the only thing we are truly bummed about. Next, you are greeted by an open floor plan, regardless of the entrance you choose, and are transported into a tidied up warehouse with vaulted ceilings and brick walls. At face value, the new look gives the store a trendy vibe while allowing you to see far across the building (in case your toddler or significant other escapes your side).
You’ll see artwork come to life and projections that will change frequently. Each area has a distinct theme and the new layout will help you easily find what you are looking for. The merchandise has been carefully curated to cater to the Disneyland Resort guest, evolving as the trends and seasons do…and we are excited to share that Oh My Disney has a pop-up in the store as well! Fingers crossed that this sticks around because we just can’t get enough of their fashion forward Disney merchandise.
On top of World of Disney opening it’s doors to lend us a peek, the vintage inspired “Mickey Mouse Club” collection and an exclusive It’s A Small World Loungefly mini-backpack made their debut in the midst of the festive holiday merchandise.
It was overwhelmingly adorable and dangerous for our wallets. Consider yourselves warned!
But, that isn’t all. In true Disney fashion, there’s a deeper story that has been saturated into the walls. This reimagined store celebrates classic Disney heritage through storytelling. The walls, displays, and registers pay homage to the “Nine Old Men” while taking us on a journey through time, revisiting underrated animations up until 1989. Why that year? Because that’s when Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened, causing this ‘warehouse’ to be closed until its unearthing in the present day. The ‘current state’ of the building is said to have been recently uncovered, revealing the structure we ventured through this morning. The story is enchanting and informative, and seeing the nods throughout the rooms really elevates the magic. One of our personal favorites was the “Ink and Paint” wall that comes to life unpredictably.
The reimagined World of Disney is set to fully open it’s doors on October 26th in Anaheim. Will you be paying the Disneyland Resort a visit anytime soon? We hope you do!
