Downtown Disney’s Salt & Straw Celebrates Thanksgiving

While most of the Disneyland Resort has transitioned to the holly jolly holidays, the newly opened Salt & Straw at Downtown Disney has changed over to their Thanksgiving Series of flavors. The best way to describe it? Thanksgiving dinner in the form of frozen creamy goodness. Since we’re suckers for all things savory and sweet, we made our way down on release day to try them all!

Our lovely ice-cream expert suggested that we should follow the order listed on the menu, and she was definitely correct! First up? Roasted Peach & Sage Cornbread Stuffing. This was oddly satisfying. The peach became unexpected sweetnesses hidden within the sage flavored icecream, and when mixed with the texture of the shortbread cookie it was a delightful treat.

Next up was their Salted Caramel Thanksgiving Turkey. To be honest, this one was a bit scary after reading the description, but we closed our eyes and braved a mouthful. Boy, was it a pleasantly decedent surprise. Who would have thought?! We tasted more caramel than anything and loved the crispy brittle bits hidden in almost every bite.

Finally, it’s time for the dessert of desserts. Is that a thing? Because, if you’re a fan of pumpkin during this time of year, it should be! The goat cheese pairs incredibly with the soft flavor of pumpkin in the spiced cheesecake ice cream. Be sure to at least give it a try.

This Thanksgiving lineup is pure genius. The only thing missing is a vegan option at this location, which we are very surprised by. Otherwise, we highly recommended that you pick up a scoop (or three) before they move on to the next holiday season!
