Earlier today, D23 Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse kicked off at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, and it definitely got started in a massive way! Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek made an overabundance of announcements to all the eager fans in attendance. Bob seemed really excited to share all the new things coming to Disney Parks, and we couldn’t be more excited to read them and share them with you.
From Disney Parks Blog:
BREAKING: Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek just revealed the names of the two signature attractions set for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it opens at the Disneyland Resort next summer and at the Walt Disney World Resort in fall 2019.
Guests can take the controls in one of three unique and critical roles aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. And on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, guests can join an epic battle between the First Order and the Resistance – including a face-off with Kylo Ren himself!
Bob Chapek revealed the names of both of the new attractions, and then showed the audience teaser trailers for each one. Each attraction had a mind-blowing level of detail in the short glimpses we saw, and we are literally counting the days to see in-person what Imagineers have worked so hard on for so long next summer when it all debuts.
Here are some additional details on the new attractions and their teaser trailers from Disney Parks Blog…
The first, entitled Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, puts guests behind the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy in one of three unique flight crew roles.
Our second attraction, which puts guests in the middle of an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order, is called Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. As you can see from this video, which was shot in the actual attraction, both the stakes, and the excitement are running high in this epic Star Wars cliffhanger!
These two new incredible experiences – paired with the land’s dynamic elements and optional interactive integration with the Play Disney Parks app – invite guests to become galactic travelers and live their own Star Wars stories in a galaxy far, far away.
The teaser trailers alone are enough to make any Star Wars fan ready to book their next trip to visit the Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu next summer, and we are sure it is going to be a hit with everyone. Which attraction are you all most excited about coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?
